I just came back from New York and visited ‘5 Pointz’ in Brooklyn. “This is considered to be the world’s premiere ‘graffiti Mecca’ where artists from around the globe paint colorful pieces on walls of a $200,000 square foot factory building.” This significant and historic meeting ground for artists and spectators will soon look quite different as it is redeveloped to be a condo / mixed use site.
I thought of Open Eyes Toronto - exploring the Condo scene of Toronto... what are the positive and negative that result from introducing new program to an area, what makes an art community thrive, how does ‘mixed use’ actually work in a city?
